About Margaret

Margaret’s mother, Sherline, created the idea for the foundation in honor of Margaret.

Due to Margaret’s spinal cord injury, she could not regulate her body temperature, so she always felt cold. Margaret never went a day without wearing blankets. Her daily routine consisted of using five blankets and each one had a specific placement. She wore one around her head, two over her upper body, one under her feet, and one under her right knee to keep it propped up.

Our mission is to spread Margaret’s love of blankets around the world by providing a blanket to children in need in hopes that it will bring a smile to their faces and add a little warmth and security to their days, just as they did for Margaret.

Sherline Romph

My name is Sherline, and I am Margaret’s mom. I have been married to my husband, Eric, for 32 years. We have 5 children, 2 of which are in heaven, and we have 3 grandchildren. I started this foundation in memory of my daughter, Margaret, who passed away on May 6th, 2019. She loved blankets and used multiple every day. When she passed away, I would see blankets and think of her and would want to buy them for her. Then I had the idea of why not still buy them but give them to other children in need. I am blessed to help keep her memory alive and share her love of blankets. I hope to help other children feel the love and comfort that each blanket will bring. I look forward to working with everyone on making this foundation successful.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

When Margaret passed away, I wanted to keep buying blankets for her. Since I couldn’t give them to her, I wanted them to go to a good cause, so why not give them to kids in need? I want to spread Margaret’s love of blankets to help her spirit live on, so that is why I started Miracles 4 Margaret.

The most wonderful thing I decided to do was share a blanket and a piece of my heart with you.

Erin Regan

I am Erin Regan, and I am Margaret’s oldest sister. I am married to my husband, Ethan, and we have two sons – Braydin and Owen. I taught high school math for four years but am now a stay-at-home mom and I love every minute of it. I am the Vice President on the Miracles 4 Margaret Foundation Board, and I am so excited to help carry on Margaret’s legacy by spreading her love of blankets to children in hospitals, shelters, and other places in need. She loved blankets and was always wearing them everywhere she went. Margaret made life better for everyone who knew her, and she had a smile that lit up a room. She was fierce, strong, and an inspiration to many, including myself. I know Margaret would be happy to know this foundation is in memory of her, so I am thrilled to keep her heart and soul alive through Miracles 4 Margaret.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

Margaret and I shared an amazing bond. We were best friends. I am part of Miracles 4 Margaret because I want to show the world how special Margaret was and still is, and I can do that through the foundation by sharing her love of blankets with others. Our foundation gets to share a little piece of her kind and loving heart with every donation. I am proud to be a voice for Margaret and to help inspire others just like she did.

Katharine Deaver

My name is Katharine Deaver! I am married to my husband, Matthew, and we have a beautiful daughter named River and a handsome son named Cooper. I currently work as a respiratory therapist for a hospital in the region. I am the Co-Vice President of the Miracles 4 Margaret Foundation. I couldn’t be more excited to share the love of blankets with other kiddos at hospitals and shelters. Margaret Louise wouldn’t go anywhere without her blankets. I would say they meant the world to her! There is just something about a warm blanket that can make your day better. Margaret was my best friend and the strongest girl I knew. We all miss her dearly, and I can’t wait to keep her memory alive!

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

I am one of Margaret’s sisters and am a part of Miracles 4 Margaret because I want her legacy to live on, and I get to help with that through what our foundation does.

With God, all things are possible.

Eric Romph

My name is Eric, and I am Margaret’s dad. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Sherline, for 32 years. We have 5 children, 2 of which are in heaven. I also have 3 wonderful grandkids and hope to have many more! I have worked for the Missouri State Highway Patrol for over 20 years. From the date of the accident, they have never wavered in their support of Margaret and our family. One of my fondest memories is watching Family Feud with Margaret. Many times we laughed until we cried. Thank you for your support as we grow her foundation.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

Because I’m her dad. :)

People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway. If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway. If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway. For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

Kay Brejcha

My name is Kay Brejcha. My full name is Kay Kelley Romph Brejcha. I am better known as Ms. Kay or Grammy. I am Eric Romph’s mother and Margaret Romph’s Grammy. I have three children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. I was employed by the Missouri Department of Education State Schools for Severely Disabled for thirty-seven years. Now I am retired and busier than I have ever been. One of the activities that keeps me busy is the foundation. One of my memories of Margaret was her love of her blankets and how they had to be placed just right. I never achieved placing them the exact way she wanted them. My favorite memory was the night she called me and told me she had asked Jesus into her heart. So many stories to remember about Margaret – a spunky, determined, funny girl – ask me about them, I have several to share.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

I am Margaret’s Grammy (Eric’s Mom).  I cannot think of a better way to honor Margaret than by giving out blankets. She loved her blankets.

Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.

I am excited to see where this foundation goes in the future, and I am even more excited to see the smiles that Margaret’s love for blankets will create.

Jeremy Higbie

Father of five beautiful daughters and husband to my wife, Pascal. I’m the owner of Vopz Medical and dedicated to regenerative medicine. I had the opportunity to know Margaret by way of her need for my products and by the Lord sending her mother to the salon for a haircut while I was also there with my daughter. Margaret became very special to me over time, and I’m excited to hold a position on this board. She inspired me, and I look forward to inspiring others through Miracles 4 Margaret.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

I’m part of Miracles 4 Margaret because Margaret inspired me. She helped me learn about a whole new world and about people who need these wonderful blankets.

Beth Ayres

When asked to join the board, I was honored and happy to agree. I lived in Jefferson City for 26 years and now live in Rolla, MO. I was Margaret’s homebound teacher 2017-2019. (Before retirement, I was Erin and Patrick’s 6th grade teacher.) Through time, Margaret adopted me as a Romph and said Larry, my husband, could join, too. She took me to a collegiate gymnastics meet and we read all of the Princess Diary books together. I came into Margaret’s life as she was leaving childhood and becoming a young woman. She was growing in her ability to look outside herself and see the needs of others. My husband had a stroke in 2018. Margaret asked to visit the hospital and bring me my favorite powdered sugar donuts. She gave Larry one of her stuffed animals. I want to participate in giving to others and know that Margaret is being remembered.

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

I became Margaret’s homebound teacher in the spring of her 7th grade year. I was privileged to be given Margaret’s trust. I want to participate in kindness on Margaret’s behalf.

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.

Dan Hoernschemeyer

Hi, I’m Dr. Dan Hoernschemeyer. I joined the M4M Board in 2020. I met Margaret after taking care of her after her initial MVA. I am currently an associate professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Missouri Orthopedic Institute and Women’s and Children’s Hospital. I have been on staff as the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics for over 17 years. Specializing in scoliosis, skeletal dysplasias and many other pediatric orthopedic conditions, I am blessed to care for so many children over the years and make their lives better. Margaret was one of my favorite patients!

Why am I a part of Miracles 4 Margaret?

She made everything around her so beautiful – that was Margaret’s life. Over the 18 years of my career here at Mizzou, no patient taught me more – with her smile, wit, and spicy personality!

Love, laugh, live life. Play, pray, listen and learn. And always remember to laugh one more time!
